Dr. David Clark is a trauma surgeon whose research focuses on injury epidemiology and trauma care systems.  His research methods primarily apply statistical models to existing datasets.  He received an M.D. from the George Washington University and completed a surgical internship at Dartmouth Affiliated Hospitals, a surgical residency at Maine Medical Center, and a trauma fellowship at the University of Maryland.  He also has an M.S. in statistics from the University of Southern Maine and an M.P.H. with special emphasis in quantitative methods from Harvard University. 

In addition to his clinical position in the Department of Surgery and his research position at CORE, Dr. Clark is a Professor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and an Instructor at the Harvard School of Public Health.   He has received grant support from the CDC, NICHD, and AHRQ.  He is a nationally recognized expert in his area, serving as the Chair of the Subcommittee on the National Trauma Data Bank for the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and as a member of the Expert Panel on Injury Severity Measurement for the National Center for Health Statistics, CDC.  Dr. Clark has more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
