I. Musculoskeletal Biology Basic Science Research
The focus of research in our basic science division is dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying skeletal acquisition and bone loss. We are particularly interested in understanding the interactions of fat and bone metabolism as well as the relationship of key genes involved in these processes in the establishment and maintenance of the hematopoietic stem cell niche. Our ultimate goal is to translate our basic science discoveries into therapies to treat bone diseases such as osteoporosis.
