The Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) at Maine Medical Center Research Institute offers pre-college and college students a unique opportunity to conduct educational research in diverse biomedical science fields during the summer months.
During the ten-week program, students attend a comprehensive course featuring topics including bioethics, animal use in biomedical science, and scientific presentation skill, and attend lectures presented by distinguished guest scientists and faculty members.
The stipend for the summer internships is $3,500 and is paid bi-weekly per Maine Medical Center payroll procedures. Students are responsible for their own transportation and housing. The Program Coordinator can offer guidance to those who may require housing.
The program will take place from May 29, 2012-August 3, 2012.
All accepted students will become short term temporary employees of Maine Medical Center, and must go through required post-offer, pre-employment health and drug screening. In order to get through the process accepted candidates should be available to go to Employee Health on the Maine Medical Center Campus no later than May 23, 2011. MMC Human Resources and the SSRP Coordinator will guide you through each step in the process!
