Dr. Irwin Brodsky obtained his medical and master of public health degrees from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University and a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Vermont. Irwin is an Endocrinologist, operating an outreach clinical program for the Maine Center for Diabetes. He came to Maine in 2002 from the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was Associate Professor of Medicine and Nutrition and Associate Director of the General Clinical Research Center. He is developing a research focus in the determinants of clinical outcome in diabetic patients experiencing severe hypoglycemia. His previous research publications include original papers describing protein metabolic responses to dietary protein restriction and book chapters on hormone and nutrient interactions.
