I attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, then made my way back north through Internship at Georgetown University, completing my Internal Medicine training at Maine Medical Center in 2003. I spent the following year in a General Internal Medicine fellowship sponsored by Maine Medical Center and the Center for Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth, through which I earned a Masters in Science focused on clinical research, quality improvement, and outcomes measurement.

Research
Interests
My primary research interests are the care of international patients in the United States and the improvement of medical care in developing nations. During residency I completed a pilot study of trauma in the Somali population in Portland which has been presented at numerous local medical and mental health forums. Over the past 3 years I travelled to Haiti three times with Konbit Sante, a partnership project with a hospital in Haiti, and joined their board of directors. During my year at Dartmouth I completed a project evaluating the care of congestive heart failure patients at Maine Medical Center.
