Senior Scientist Position
The Maine
Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI) and the Divisions of Hematology/Oncology
and Pulmonary Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Maine Medical
Center (MMC) seek to recruit a physician/scientist with an M.D. or
M.D./Ph.D. degree, clinical training in oncology or pulmonology, and
research experience in lung cancer or metastatic disease to the thorax.
Applications are invited from translational research investigators
who are using modern cell, molecular and/or genetic methods to elucidate
molecular mechanisms of lung cancer or thoracic neoplasms. Translational
investigators with a demonstrated interest in lung cancer growth, invasion
and metastasis, tumor microenvironment, molecular targets for therapeutics,
biomarkers for diagnosis, or response and prognosis are encouraged
to apply.
Institute
faculty have access to excellent resources, including generous start-up
funds and space in a new state-of-the-art research building. MMCRI
has outstanding core facilities for DNA and protein analysis, stem
and progenitor cell isolation, confocal microscopy, mouse transgenic,
and small animal imaging. This position will be associated with MMCRI’s Center for
Clinical and Translational Research. The successful candidate will
also be expected to interact with existing clinical programs at
MMC, to participate in graduate medical education programs,
and to provide research mentoring to pulmonary fellows. Clinical opportunity
to participate in a multidisciplinary thoracic/oncology clinic is available.
The
successful candidate will have an outstanding record of academic achievement
and extramural funding and will complement existing basic and clinical
research programs at MMCRI. Junior faculty with an exceptional record
of achievement will be considered. Rank and salary will be commensurate
