Researchers
at Maine Medical Center have developed a way to identify certain molecules
secreted by breast cancer tumors, and are now hard at work on what
may someday be a blood test for breast cancer.
The
project benefits from the collaborations of a cross-sectoral team,
including Dr. Susan Miesfeldt at Maine Center for Cancer Medicine,
Dr. Lee Lucas at MMCRI's Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation,
Dr. Ah-Kau Ng of the University of Southern Maine, and Maine Biotechnology
Services of Portland, as well as the hard working laboratory staff
who support all of these researchers.
